Call for Nominations for the Board of Directors of the Schizophrenia Society of Ontario

The Schizophrenia Society of Ontario (SSO) Nominating Committee is accepting nominations for current openings on its Board of Directors.  We are seeking candidates who bring a diverse range of professional and volunteer experience, in particular but not limited to: prior experience on non-profit boards; fundraising and capacity to engage others; legal, medical and accounting expertise.

To be eligible to be a Board Member, you must be 18 years of age or older and a member of the SSO in good standing or be prepared to become a member of the organization.

Board Members are required to attend a minimum of four Board meetings a year (held in Toronto).  Board Members take on the responsibility of helping the SSO achieve its mission, mandate and revenue goals.  Board Members are encouraged to contribute to and promote the organization in ways that are personally meaningful.

Nomination forms are available by clicking here or by calling our office at 1-800-449-6367.  Applications must be accompanied by a summary of qualifications and experience, along with a short statement by the candidate on their interest in becoming a Member of the Board.

The SSO is committed to having the Board's Membership reflect Ontario's diverse population.  The Board strongly encourages persons living with schizophrenia and family members, along with Aboriginal people and members of various other communities and orientations to apply.

Nominations must be received at the address below no later than Friday, July 19, 2013, at 4:30 pm in order to be considered.
