Run in the 2014 Scotiabank Marathon in support of SSO

On Sunday, October 19, 2014 thousands of runners will lace up their shoes and hit the pavement, for the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K race. If you would run on behalf of the Schizophrenia Society of Ontario (SSO) you can do so by registering with us today. Whether you are a new or advanced runner, you can do what you love for a worthy cause.
Over 135,000 people in Ontario are living with schizophrenia. If you include all the people who support them - parents, siblings, extended family and friends - that number reaches over 500,000. Chances are you know someone who has been touched by schizophrenia. We are working towards solutions to help people living with schizophrenia and psychosis live their best lives, but we cannot do it alone.

Our support to our runners includes:

  • Free registration for the first 10 runners who commit to raising a minimum of $300 in pledges (Contact our office to register);
  • Tax receipts for all pledges of $20 or more;
  • Incentive prizes!

Next steps:

  • If you would like to register or are already registered but would like to fundraise for SSO, contact Sarah Ouimet at or 416-449-6830 X 228 for registration details.
  • Ask your friends, family and neighbours out to support you in this event.
  • Have them come out and join SSO staff and volunteers on Sunday, October 19 as we cheer on team SSO.

The SSO is a membership based organization; we rely strongly on our devoted and tireless community of members and volunteers to make our organization thrive. Thank you for your support, without it we could not provide our vital services to families affected by this illness.
