SSO Goes Green for Schizophrenia

SSO went green in a major way this May, by advocating for individuals and families living with schizophrenia online, through social media and at Queen’s Park.

We kicked off the month with Mental Health Week, a week to get loud by raising awareness and starting conversations about mental health with friends and family.

On our advocacy day on May 16, staff members, board members and individuals living with schizophrenia spent the day at Queen’s Park face-to-face with key elected officials advocating for the issues that matter most to individuals and families living with schizophrenia. The month culminated in National Schizophrenia and Psychosis Awareness Day on May 24 where the CN Tower and the iconic Toronto sign in Nathan Philips Square were lit up in green.

Thank you to all who shared Facebook posts, used the hashtag on social media, contacted your local MPP’s or liked an Instagram photo. The more people know what we do and know that people living with schizophrenia need support, the closer we are to eliminating stigma.
