Bill Jefferies Schizophrenia Research Fund The first research grant through the Bill Jefferies Fund was awarded in 1993-1994 to Dr. Hyman Niznik of the Clarke Institute of Psychiatry, for research on the molecular make-up of dopamine receptors. Since this first grant, the Bill Jefferies Fund has supported 15 additional scientific research projects focused on finding a cause and cure for schizophrenia, preventing the onset of the illness, and improving treatments.
Helen Pfohl Fund In 2000, the Schizophrenia Society of Ontario established the Helen Pfohl Fund to support research to find a cure and treatment for schizophrenia. In 2001 SSO awarded a grant to Dr. Heather Stuart to study the effects of stigma and discrimination on people with schizophrenia and their families.
Tam Grant Research Fund In 2006, the Schizophrenia Society of Ontario established the Tam Grant Research Fund to support research into the causes and treatment of schizophrenia.
