CBT Professional Lecture

This workshop for healthcare professionals will use a variety of teaching formats to update attendees on the current practice of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for the treatment of schizophrenia and psychosis.

Presented by the Schizophrenia Society of Ontario and Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences, this workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Douglas Turkington and colleagues from Newcastle University, UK.

Using role play, multimedia demonstrations and interactive group sessions, the workshop will teach effective CBT techniques for the treatment of schizophrenia and psychosis.

The workshop will include three major themes:

  • CBT for hallucinations and the link with trauma  
  • CBT for delusions: both large and small 
  • Metacognitive and compassion based CBT for schizophrenia

The workshop is geared towards professionals who are working with patients and families including:
