SSO met with key policy makers of the Solicitor Generals’ Office to advance the work of the Coalition on Reforming Segregation in Ontario’s Correctional Institutions.
In addition, SSO met with Opposition Critics for Health and Mental Health France Gélinas and Bhutila Karpoche to ensure that SSO and psychotic illnesses are kept front and centre in the discussion on mental health in our province.
As the chair of the coalition, SSO works towards an end to segregation for those who are vulnerable, including those with mental illness. Our work also addresses needed reforms in the criminal justice system to protect the rights, health and safety of those who experience mental illness.
